               Working together with parents

It is important for both parents and nursery staff to work together to help your child feel confident, happy and secure at Nursery. Some children take longer than others to settle and we hope you feel happy to stay at Nursery with your child for as long as necessary. We welcome visitors to nursery, so if you have some spare time come and join us.

Each child is allocated a key person. You may speak to the key person whenever is convenient for both of you or if you prefer the supervisor on your child's sessions. We have a record keeping system in which observations of the children are made. We use these observations to help plan your child's next steps. Parents are asked to share these records, contribute to them and discuss them with the Nursery staff. At Nursery we recognise the importance of a two-way flow of information between parents and the Nursery. It is through this process we can work together to help children develop to their full potential.

Before children start at Nursery the manager and your child’s key person will make a visit to your home to meet you and your child. We visit you at home because it is a place where you and your child feel comfortable and relaxed. Children need to see that the people who are going to be caring for them are friendly and trusted by you. We come to talk to you about your child and answer any questions that you may have about them starting Nursery. This enables us to find out more information about your child and how we can help them settle into the nursery. Usually, the visit lasts about half an hour.
